Who we are

This website is run by Saltbox Candle Co., Studio 4, 85 Commercial St, Portland, ME 04101. You can email us at hello@saltboxcandle.example.com. Our current details are always on our contact page.

When you send us a message

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, your order number if you give it, and your message. It is stored on this website and emailed to us so that we can reply. We keep it until we delete it.

When you place an order

When you buy from our store, we receive your name, email address, phone number, shipping address and what you ordered, along with any gift message. We keep this on the website so that we can pack and ship your order and answer questions about it. Payment is taken by Stripe, straight into our own Stripe account. Your card details, Apple Pay or Google Pay details are seen only by Stripe and never reach this website or us.

Who looks after the website

The site is hosted for us in the United Kingdom by Averbo, who process this information on our behalf. They also deliver the website's email, and receive the website's error reports so they can fix faults. An error report can include a visitor's IP address and what they typed into a form.

Spam protection

The contact form is checked by Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam. reCAPTCHA loads with the page, before any choice about cookies, and lets Google see your IP address and details of your browser.

Maps

Our home page and contact page show a map of the studio from Google Maps. The map is shown by Google, which sees your IP address and may set cookies of its own.

Cookies

The website sets two cookies that every visitor needs: a session cookie, which remembers things like what is in your cart while you browse, and a security cookie, which protects the forms. The website keeps no visitor statistics of its own.

If we switch on Google Analytics or advertising tags (such as Google Ads or the Meta Pixel) in future, a banner will ask you first, and nothing from them is set until you accept. Your answer is remembered in your browser.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. Just send us a message or an email and we will do it. We do not sell anyone's personal information, and we never will.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes.
